Will a crib fit in a small nursery?

Short answer: Cribs take up less space than a cot, which helps while your baby shares your room. Leave space to walk round it and open drawers and doors.
  • Use a mattress made to fit that crib exactly.
  • If it rocks or glides, check there is a lock and use it for sleep where the instructions say to.
  • Check the weight and stage limits.

What the guidance says

  • If a full cot will not fit, the Lullaby Trust suggests a travel cot, set up with the same safer-sleep advice.
  • Place the cot away from radiators, direct sunlight and blind cords.
