Cot or cot bed: which is right for you?
A standard cot (about 120 x 60 cm) lasts until around 2 years. A cot bed (about 140 x 70 cm) converts into a toddler bed and lasts until around 4 to 5 years.
What it is
Both should meet BS EN 716. Choose a mattress that fits snugly, with no more than a 4 cm gap at any side, and adjust the base height down once baby can sit up.
