Newborn checklist: what you really need
The essentials for the first six months, in order of priority, so you can spread the cost of the big buys.
What it is
Must-haves: an i-Size infant car seat, a pram or travel system with a lie-flat option, a Moses basket or bedside crib plus a mattress, a changing mat, cot sheets and baby sleeping bags. You can buy these later: a cot bed, a nursery furniture set, a highchair, and a stroller for travel.
How to compare

| From birth / lie-flat | Newborns need to lie flat (BS EN 1888) |
| Car seat compatibility | Adapters vary by brand, so check before you buy |

FAQs
Can I spread the cost?
Yes. Klarna, Clearpay and V12 interest-free finance (on orders over £444.45) are available at checkout, subject to status.
When should I buy the pram?
Most parents order at around 28 to 32 weeks, which allows for delivery lead times.
