Can a 10 month old have a pillow?
Babies change fast, so the answer depends on your child's age, weight and development, and on your product's instructions.
What the guidance says
- Pillows, duvets and quilts are not recommended for babies under 12 months because of the risk of overheating and the head being covered.
- The Lullaby Trust says soft or bulky bedding such as quilts, pillows and duvets has been shown to increase the risk of SIDS by three times.
- Keep the cot clear: no pillows, duvets, cot bumpers, loose blankets, soft toys, pods, nests, wedges or anything to keep your baby in place.
