Travel systems explained
A travel system pairs a pushchair frame with a carrycot and an infant car seat that clip straight on, so a sleeping baby moves from car to pavement without waking.
What it is
Bundles usually include the frame, a seat unit, a carrycot or lie-flat cocoon, and an i-Size infant carrier. Some also include an Isofix base and adapters. A frame is "travel system compatible" when a car seat fits it directly or with brand adapters.
How to compare
| Feature | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Weight & folded size | Boot space, stairs and public transport |
| From birth / lie-flat | Newborns need to lie flat (BS EN 1888) |
| Car seat compatibility | Adapters vary by brand, so check before you buy |
| Warranty | Premium brands offer extended cover |
FAQs
Can my baby sleep in the car seat on the frame?
Only for short trips. Car seats are not designed for long periods or overnight sleep, so use the carrycot for walks.
Do I need an Isofix base?
Not always, but a base makes fitting quicker and reduces fitting errors.
